Gender Equality: Changes in Men's and Women's Roles

In general, gender roles are roles carried out by men and women. These roles can involve their rights and obligations such as doing housework, caring for children, caring for parents, and earning money for the family. In the past, women could not do much work outside the home. They were expected to do housework, looked after the children, and prepared everything the family needed. Moreover, women who work outside the home were considered not to dedicate themselves completely to their families. On the other hand, men could work anywhere to earn money and support their families. However, women’s work were the exception.

Therefore, gender equality exists in society. This equality means that women have the same rights as men. Hence, gender roles between men and women are equal. Men are able to do everything they want and so are women. They can choose any job they want to do without any worries. Nowadays, many women do housework while pursuing their careers. Men also earn money while looking after children or helping with housework. By learning about gender roles, people are expected to understand and accept any job chosen by men or women without judging them.
